Crocodile kills Chinhoyi man

By Nhau Mangirazi. A Chinhoyi man was killed by a crocodile on Saturday morning afer visiting Hunyani river to fetch water that could have been used for prayers. Although police visited the scene after three hours, they made a blunder by shooting a different crocodile suspected to have killed the member of an apostolic sect identified as Madzibaba Liberty. However, there were fears that the remains of the deceased could never be retrieved as the police sub aqua unit were still yet to visit the scene by Sunday mid morning. “Police took almost three hours to come here and shot a different crocodile as the suspect is tagged number 11 and is still alive. The sub aqua are still to show up and may fail to retrieve the remains after taking their time to attend to the devastating scene. The deceased was killed on Saturday morning and another day has gone. We are waiting for their action”, said Shamiso Kapenda of Hunyani section. Residents here say the dam, the main source of water for Chinhoyi town is a death trap for fish mongers in the last years. Mashonaland West provincial spokesperson Inspector Ian Kohwera was said to be in meeting when we called for confirmation. ” I am sorry Inspector Kohwera is in a meeting right now and no one has authority to speak to you”, said an officer who answered the phone.
